<<That is some thing Kashmiris should decide for themselves. >>

How? By a majority? What happens to the Kashmiri pandits? I do not know what the majority of Kashmiris want. But, if they vote to join Pakistan, what will happen to the minority? Will they be kicked out like Pakistan did to most Hindus in Pakistan and Bangladesh? This is pure insanity.

"I think it is time that both India and Pakistan stop playing GOD with them and let them make their own decision."

The British said the same thing to Mahatma Gandhi's desire to keep the entire British India together. The whole issue of Kashmir, Pakistan, and Bangladesh would not have arisen had India stayed together. British wanted to give the "freedom" to Hindus and Muslims to choose. This was a pure ploy. What incentive they had? It is like a robber coming and forcibly occupying your home and at the time of quitting the occupation, he tells each member of the family to proclaim freedom from one another with the weapons the robber leaves behind. At the height of tension during the talk of partition, there were only a few Mahatmas (GODs) that could foresee what would be good for mankind; and every other power-hungry politician wanted to be "independent." What a destructive idea! India and Pakistan had to compete with nuclear power! Is this the value of self-determination that the British gave us?

The issue of Kashmiri self-determination is similar to Tamil self-determination, or Bengali self-determination, or Marathi self-determination. In fact, the US has had a plan to balkanize India and they are upset that Indians have a bond (due to culture and heritage) to stay together despite differences.
