Here's another explanation - holiday sell off. The MMs have to return most of their profit to their members by law. Last year I noticed that at holiday times (like Thanksgiving and Christmas), there is a big sell off before the holiday and a buy back after the holiday. Has anybody analyzed this? It offers a possible explanation.
