Rich,
If one is invested in gold, the only thing a loan to the IMF does is maintain the status quo.
It is another bailout for their bad banking practices.
It is another bailout for the asain mutual funds & those who invest in them.
It is a bailout for the banks.
To make it worse, the IMF is not an efficient or effective system.
80% of all countries who borrow from the IMF repay the loan with yet another larger loan!
Suspect with Moody's ... downgrade of Asain bond debt, a loan to the IMF is not a "sound business plan".
If there were not politics & governments involved, the World Bank
& IMF could not continue to function! Many IMF loans go into default.
Japan needs to write off (and suffer from the write off) most of their
bad loans.
They continue to "auction" off these loans to other banks of Japan. Where they are carried on the books. If it came to light to whom these loans were made & who made them...
Some of these loans were to Gangsters & crime lords in Japan.
If we let it keep happening,it will keep happening.
