At first glance, sans deep analysis, the numbers seem encouraging.

Not blowout, and certainly not up to the euphoria that was dominating the board prior to the release.

The stock traded flat after the release so a big move tomorrow would be a surprise.

Schmidt seems to know how to play the expectations game. Rather impressive when one considers the historical volatility of NOVL's numbers.

Paul:

Well, I read the numbers and press release after the bell. Its what I expected, and just a tad more. Just finished listening to the conference call this evening (been cutting grass after work--life goes on ) and I must say, the conference call was extremely solid in my opinion, as this team of Novell management and engineers, along with marketing and sales is rebuilting Novell like a tank. The vision of Eric Schmidt and Stone is unprecedented in my opinion, and it appears very visible that they are moving into the networking software leadership once again. Paul, the revenues and sales will come, its not like making instant pudding (just add water). Be patient, buy cheap, and sit back and let Schmidt do the job that most here believe he will.

Hope you were equally impressed with the company's conference call. Obviously the analysts were hunting for forward guidance on earnings, but Schmidt was cautiously careful not to get into that game.

Regards,

QuadK

In case you didn't figure it out. The numbers have already been published. Unfortunately the quality of this thread has declined to the point where there is no discussion of the conference call --- just beer. Pretty pathetic.

Paul,

There is a time for everything.. Now let us go back to some quality time with the numbers.
Salah said, among other things:

The key number is 'revenues'. If they are around 250M, then the
situation is 'stable'. If they are materially higher, then progress is being made..

PS I see no reasons for you being so negative Paul. You said you have short term calls. You should be a happy man. Cheers!
