soup: No, I don't think that this will get Apple to advertise in Forbes and I don't think advertising was a motive. If they figure Apple is dying, they won't be courting their business, anyway. Some magazines keep editorial and advertising quite separate. Doing that was a goal at MacUser, for example.

All: Off Topic: I've tested everything on the G3/300 minitower and the conclusion is there's a hardware problem. The last test (like when you look for a lost item) is the test I should have done first. Backed up the drive, initialized it, tested blocks, installed fresh system 8.1 and nothing else. Booted off the drive. Crashed at the first event (setup assistant dialog). I'd previously removed all RAM (new SIMMs then original SIMMs), the TwinTurbo board, the extra extra wide SCSI, and had done various clean System installs. Remind me to perform the last test first, next time. Apple is calling to schedule a home visit by a technician.

Don't know if Forbes is on Apple's preferred advertising list, but the new PowerBook pullout ad looks right at home in this week's New Yorker.

<<Does anyone know if AAPL advertises in Forbes? >>

Yes, I've seen Apple advertise in Forbes ASAP techonology supplement that comes out to subscribers every two months. It was a two page double-truck that caught you attention with the Micrososft Office98 logo followed by the PowerMac G3 on the second page beating out iintel's Pentium II.

Also, Guy Kawasaki is a Technology columnist at Forbes. It appears he tries not to be overly pro-Apple in his columns.
