getgo, others and more others:

RE: Assuming 1.50 for 99 LSI is currently selling at 14x 99 earnings. A significant discount to the S & P 500.

But with less predictability. LSI needs to show revenue growth. Or Kurlak has to come out and say the one semi he would buy now is LSI!

RE: If the Street has not given up on LSI earning 1.50 in 99 what is the downside for the stock ?

17

RE: When do the value investors step in and buy LSI ?

Never. They'll buy the semi-equips first - those tend to come close to book value every now and now.

RE: If Kurlak is correct and the SOX drops to the 200 level does LSI drop to 15 (10x 99 earnings) ?

Getgo I don't keep track of the SOX. If over the next few weeks INTC drops 10% from today's level then LSI will likewise drop 15-20% from today's level.

RE: When does LSI say enough is enough and announce a major stock buyback program ?

They have the authorization to buy about 3 million shares more. As far as I can tell they ought to buy below 22 or so. Cheap stock for them.

RE: We are approaching the 12 month lows even with all the good news of the past 6 months.

Worse we are approaching the 24 month lows - or July 1996 revisited for many of the semi stocks. Many of the semi-equips except for some of the bigger caps are already knocking - it is going to be a tough summer for the semi-equips. And if that happens likely many of the semis as well. (even though LSI is doing okay, demand is okay, reduced cap. exp => better ASPs etc etc ...) Godzilla striketh again.

RE: I am really losing ( correction- I have already lost) my interest in investing in technology stocks.

A fun ride it has not been... FWIW Fortune has come up with a front-cover of a chip... proclaiming it is the greatest invention since sliced bread and it has changed everyone lives yah de yah de yah... if they had a cover with a bear and a chip I'd be buying - not sure what to make of the current cover's relevance... Techs are volatile (duh!) and I am having fun in the summer time....
