That is a really humorous (and sad) statement about a thread being like a "bad part of the city"...

I guess some people get on the threads after a long day at work just looking for ways to vent their venom. These unhappy people of low self-esteem are probably so bound up from being "pleasant" on their jobs that they blow like a Vesuvius their long pent up aspersions on SI. These people are probably not in satisfying personal relationships, I would guess.

Reminds me of the book by the title of "Dated Jekyll, Married Hyde".

In the 60's and 70's there were events called "happenings." ...I think of that thread, the way it is at night, as a sort of testosterone-inspired happening. Actually, there may be something wrong with me, but I enjoy reading it. It's mostly not vicious, I think it's play, and that they're having fun after a hard day of work.
