<< 1)The Firefly's commercial production was pushed back (delayed) another qtr. >> Let me clarify. They said it would ship this quarter, which started 20 days ago. That means within the next 70 days. << 2)The Multiwave Metro (the real competitor to the GigaMux) is not expected until the end of the year now. >> This statement makes me laugh. You imply that Osicom has a competitive product. That's like saying a Sparkomatic or Kraco is a competitive product to an Alpine or a Yugo is competition for a Ferrari. Osicom's products are not anywhere in the same class as Ciena's. You know that and I know that, yet you continue to promote the facade. << They did not acknowledge anyone who is currently shipping for metro. Guess they didn't want to advertise for anyone or be embarrassed they don't have it ready yet. >> That's because Osicom's product is not of a caliber worth mentioning. It's a bunch of spare parts thrown together made to appear like a sophisticated DWDM when it isn't. Second of all, OSICOM ISN'T SHIPPING METRO DWDM are they? If they are, where are the press releases? All I have heard about is some disaster recovery baloney, which sounds like a tiny, unsophisticated deployment at best. << 5)Feels those competitor's focus will really start to shift from long haul to short haul over the next 12 - 18 months.... I wonder if they know NEC is selling the GigaMux for short haul >> You must take your cues from management, David. You know how to mislead everyone with your phrasing and language. Unfortunately for you I am here to dispel your less than forthright intentions. Osicom has not stated that "NEC is selling the Gigamux". In typical fashion Osicom attempted to mislead everyone by using vague and unorthodox language in the last conference call. They said something to the effect of NEC gives them "a hunting license". What the heck does that mean? Furthermore they made it clear that this "hunting license" (whatever that means) was targeted specifically for one and only one RBOC. Now that's a little different than saying NEC is 'selling the Gigamux', correct? << Perhaps today's slide may have been a result of fear of a CIEN bombshell like the early release of the Multiwave Metro. >> While that would have been nice, CIEN doesn't rush their products out the door just so they can claim to be first with something new. They make sure that their products are top-notch and ready to be accepted by the marketplace. Ciena just announced the release of their 40 channel DWDM 2 months ago and are already shipping for deployment and recognizing revenues. Contrast this with Osicom who announced their "first to market" Gigamux over a year ago, yet have practically nothing in the way of revenues to show for it.
