Smart Modular SMOD is seeing a cloudy near term as they have just learned there is an over supply of memory modules. That would seem to have a wide impact. Any thoughts on why this should be, or better yet why anybody would want to hoard memory? That's like putting Zenith stock in your retirement fund.

Is this a problem due to changing memory types, or capacity per module? Certainly it is not because PC's need less memory?

09:00 ET Another Warning: Manufacturer of personal computer card products & embedded processor modules, Smart Modular Tech. (SMOD 21 5/8), reported Q2 net of $0.30 a share, in line with the First Call mean estimate. Company said sees uncertain environment for next 2 qtrs; puts Q3 revenues at $155 mln and EPS at $0.19 (vs First Call estimate of $0.35); puts Q4 revenues at $180 mln and EPS at about $0.26 (no estimate available). Stock currently indicated 6 pts lower.

Anybody think this is an opportunity?

Regards,

Mark
