Keep in mind that AMZN has been on the 'net aggressively for 3 years and Barnes and Noble just started 2 quarters ago............;^)

Doug, consider also that AMZN's Q was Jan-Mar while BKS' was Feb-Apr. We have seen other evidence that April was a weak month. In addition, BKS' promotion of .com has only recently been geared up. I was a little disappointed as well that it wasn't a bigger number, but 1 Q does not a trend make (unless, of course, it's a slowing at AMZN ;-)).

PS: Thanks, Mark, for the CNNfn link. Did anyone notice the disparity between how the article was listed on Yahoo's news links and the actual headline and lead?

2. AMZN revenue growth for same period was twice that of barnesandnoble.com Sad
reality is that not only are AMZN sales far greater but they are growing at a faster clip.

One cannot compare percentage sales growth when AMZN's total sales are so anemic in comparison.
