Paul,

From the answer Schmidt gave on the NT question, I still think Schmidt has to think quicker on his feet.

The answer should have been:

"Yes we have NT based revenue, ever heard of "NDSforNT"? Secondly, NOVL's focused strategy is to provide the best Network Services Infrastructure in the the industry. Therefore, the platform is irrelevant. Most of NOVL's product solutions are primarily targetted for WIN95 and NT solutions. So to answer it in another way - We are making revenue on NT products by providing a whole suite of services around the NT platform."

Paul, they just dont know how to market and sell what they have. Their focus and strategy is RIGHT ON THE MONEY! "NETWORK SERVICES INFRASTRUCTURE".

As for your earlier comment on NOVL addressing small transportable platforms - NOVL had addressed that to a MUCH LARGER scope than MSFT recent WINDOWS CE push. Ever heard of NEST. This concept and solution was introduced several years ago. Unfortunately it is an idea ahead of its time. If I'm not mistaken, NEST is still alive and available but only being considered in niche markets (i.e. Power utilities).

Hello Paul,

I'm playing catch-up on the thread ... there have been a lot of messages since Thursday! ;-)

I am trying to follow, and learn from, your reasoning to better understand what has to change at Novell. You obviously have some strong feelings that it's still "not enough."

I don't want to argue with you on this, but rather better understand the problem. You stated "I do not understand Schmidt's PRODUCT OR MARKETING strategy. Whereas with Gates its perfectly clear to me."

Could you please give me a description of Gates strategy, in the same format that you would like to see Novell's? I'm not looking for Novell's strategy, but instead for your perfectly clear description of Gates strategy.

I would like to use this as a foundation for some personal work to better understand how Novell needs to express it's strategy.

I *want* Novell's strategy to be as "perfectly clear" ... if you can express Gate's strategy to me it will help me (and maybe others here) to better understand how Novell's strategy needs to be expressed!

Thanx!
