Citicorp to Promote Bank Services at Kinko's Bloomberg News

Citibank said it will open sales offices at Kinko's() Inc. copy
centers, as the bank seeks to expand in the U.S. without buying or
building expensive branches. Kinko's, a privately held company based in
Ventura, has more than 880 stores in eight countries. Citibank, the main unit
of New York-based Citicorp(), tested sales and
information offices at Kinko's stores in Las Vegas. It plans to open
mini-branches in six to eight Kinko's stores during the next year. The
program is expected to expand to more Kinko's stores. The centers, which
will be staffed by bank employees, will include automated teller machines
that can accept deposits. They will also promote other services using video
screens, computers and brochures. "We can offer Citibank's services in
new areas of the country" by teaming up with a national retailer, said Steve
Liguori, a spokesman for Citibank. Citicorp's shares rose $3.06 to close at
$158.56 on the New York Stock Exchange().
