Hi Peter, Mohan, Sankar et al I received this mail from a friend of mine. I could not agree more.. PERCEPTION India has done sacrilege by conducting 5 tests. REALITY * The Chinese have, till now conducted 45 tests * The US 1,200 tests * The Russians 700 tests * Now 1200, 700 and 45 are a much higher figure than 5 - don't you agree ? PERCEPTION India was responsible for triggering the arms race. REALITY * U.S. arms China and Pakistan. * India feels insecure. * India cries to the U.S. * U.S. gives lip service - yada yada yada. blah blah blah * India tests nukes. Now, Who is responsible for triggering the arms race ? PERCEPTION India is threatening its neighbors with all its weapons. REALITY * India was attacked 3 times by Pakistan in the last 50 years. * 20 or more times by Pakistan/Iranian kings in the last 500 years. * India was invaded by British and ruled for 200 years or so. * India was attacked by Chinese in the 1970s. * Now, who threatens? Others or India? PERCEPTION India is a grave threat - blah blah blah. REALITY * U.S. dropped the first atomic bomb. * U.S. invaded Vietnam. * India gave the World the concept of Non-Violence and proved it with its independence from the British. * India has given refuge to the Tibetans and Dalai Lama who have been chased from their rightful land. U.S. still continues to do business with the Chinese, and given them the Most Favored Nation MFN status. Now, from history who has caused greater human misery and who has stood for peace? Not by lip service but by actually doing it. Enough is Enough. Its time to get real !!!. Idealism in a non-ideal world will NOT work. Regards Ravi
