I guess I have to jump in here. Clinton ain't no saint. We all know that but name me a politician that is purer than the driven snow. For that matter, other than myself, name me an individual who is. The point is that the spin doctors are misleading the ill informed regarding the facts on this case. First the sat that blew up was owned by Intelsat contracted for and built by Loral. It was not a Loral owned bird. It was a Loral built bird. The Chinese were apparantly the lowest bidder for the launch and Intelsat, probably guided by Loral, chose them. It could have just as easily been a Proton rocket. What special favors did Loral get because Intelsat chose to launch on a Chinese rocket? My guess is Loral would have made the same amount of money had the bird gone up on a Delta II, Proton, Zenit, Ariane or whatever. Maybe I am wrong and someone can correct me on this. Re: technology, both Hughes and Loral confirmed the Chinese findings. According to both firms, no technology was transferred. That is why Janet Reno is not appointing a special prosecutor because her ofc has concluded that nothing has warranted it. The WSJ in today's editorial alludes to the possibility that the facts might not be as bad or even bad at all as the press originally made it out to be. What gets me is the repubs have assumed that strategic missle technology was transferred in exchange for money by Clinton. Dan Burton on PBS even said it was nuclear technology that was transferred. Hell, it was a com sat, not a nuclear bomb. Clinton won't be remembered as our greatest pres and I didn't and wouldn't vote for him but he ain't dumb enough to sell out for 2 or 3 hundred grand IMHO. He is horny too but that doesn't make him a traitor. I wonder what Newt would have done had Monica appeared in his chambers late at night with no one around on her knees. Hmmmm.
