>>Does the September date mean Win98 will or can be released in June, as planned?

no! from a legal standpoint, it is not an all-clear --
the request for injunctive action to modify win98
still sits before judge ronald whyte of the u.s. district court.

remember, the sun suit involving java copyright violation
is separate from the DOJ action. not all were consolidated
together.

thus, independent of the browser issue, if preliminary injunction is granted, microsoft may not ship the bits they desire at retail
on june 15. if the injunction came down tomorrow, say, and
the bits ship via PC OEMs; they could be held liable for
contributory infringement. has microsoft indemnified the dells
of the world?

the wisest course is not to make an investment decision based
solely on the DOJ suit without considering "the other" federal suit.
