To hell with this market, I'm going to cash. I'll wait on the SMOD, because I think it may float up to the 17-18 level in a few weeks. The first day is usually the worst. Then I'm out with a 3 point loss and done with %#!($%@ SMOD. I should just be an idiot and buy bonds....

Buzz,

Your idea of going to Greece for a few months is great, my wife and I were there last summer on an island in the northeast Aegean Sea and it was wonderful. Interestingly, prior to the earnings bomb yesterday I was naively hoping that Smart would beat the original estimate, and that my 650 shares averaged at near 27 would become 36 again--I was going to use some of the proceeds to buy airline tickets to Greece! Instead, I'm staring down an $8K + loss on paper, and will probably be taking a driving vacation instead.

I have to agree with an earlier post regarding the January earnings announcement when Ajay said that the lost business was a one-time shot, and that although the quarter would be below expectations everything else looked pretty good. From that guidance there were probably a number of people who decided to add to their positions figuring that it was just an isolated piece of bad news. What is most troubling to me, is that the stock moved down a number of days prior to earnings (from 26 to 22) on no news, suggesting that some people or groups had access to information we did not.

The fact that the price has been beaten down this bad is also interesting, when you consider Smart has been a profitable company for quite some time. How can you explain $14 a share when Internet stocks that make no money are selling at insane multiples?? It just makes no sense. Oh well, enough rambling.
My best wishes to you and all other thread posters for much better luck in the days ahead.
