Smart Modular Tech. (SMOD) 14 -7 5/8: --UPDATE-- Cowen & Co. downgrades manufacturer of personal computer card products and embedded processor modules from "buy" to "neutral" as company sees uncertain environment for next 2 qtrs; also lowers estimates of industry oversupply of memory modules and PC channel issues; results could improve in 1999 as company shifts to 100MHz SDRAM modules and new capacity from Malaysia; lowers FY98 from $1.37 to $1.10 and FY99 from $1.65 to $1.35 a share.....

It is interesting that Cowen is downgrading while projecting 22.7% growth and a PE for 98 of 12.5 and 10.2 for 99 based on my last quote of 13 3/4. Nothing new there, but I wonder what's really driving this issue.

Regards,

Mark
