The U.S. Supreme Court has rejected without comment AVANT!
CORP's appeal of a Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals' decision that
enjoined Avant from making any further sales of its ArcCell
place-and-route software. The decision marks the latest episode in
the CADENCE DESIGN SYSTEMS INC vs. Avant legal saga, in which
Cadence alleges Avant stole code from Cadence for use in its
place-and-route software. According to officials for Cadence
Design Systems, the Supreme Court's rejection of the appeal means
the Ninth Circuit's injunction order is now final, and Avant
cannot sell ArcCell or any product that contains code copied from
Cadence. (BusinessWire)
