OE needs more product in the field. Most of the studies have been done by magazine reporters. This early in the stage you do not have enough sales and operating experience by the public. Meaning that there is no real incentive to do a "consumer report" type of analysis. The yard stick that can be used is who is buying today? Mercury Marine and Bombardier, Tohatsu. Three very large concerns that represent a large market share (Amount ?) at least in comparison to OMC (Ficht). This tells me OE is superior. With the automotive application, the jury is still out. We must rely on technical experts such as Maverick and other Mechanical Engineers to compare the various systems out there. I extrapolate from the marine companies that the air assisted, dual fuel system, is the superior system over the Japanese GDI designs and Ficht. Sure the Japanese designs are for 4 stroke application, but I would think the GDI concept could have been applied to the two stroke. Perhaps the Japanese thought the market was too small or they did have a chance to compete with OE or Ficht. As a reminder, OE or specifically OCP, is the only technology that uses air to help atomize the fuel, as well as, control the injection and ignition process. Guys, no one thought about doing this other than OE or at least was successful in achieving the results. This in itself does not make for a great investment. Good management and strategic marketing plan is also required. And, I believe that is in place. So, which is the best system will ultimately come from the stakeholders and later from the consumer. Right now OE has some big stakeholders in their camp.
