Mr Aloha, (DELL) has made the others look stupid.. Obviously they will try to respond, the operative word is try. It will remain to be seen when and how successful they become. Given the last quarter results, so far they aren't successful. There is such a thing as brand recognition, even for the general public. so...read the reports, financial reports that is.

A,

That is true that CPQ is a tough competitor, but right now CPQ has 'indigestion' with the merger going on. Additionally, the CPQ 'plate' is so 'packed', I don't think that they will be able to concentrate on the market that the PCs are in. I think that they will feel that the Server and 'bigger' market is where the money is and CPQ will compete with HWP and IBM for that market. I think that CPQ thinks that DELL with only 6% of the market isn't a threat - YET!

I don't think that the others have decided how they will handle the 'channel' on an ongoing basis. Just dropping out would put a 'bad taste' in the resellers mouth. It is not an easy problem, that's for sure.

Regards,

Ken
