More is Better? Yes? No? RE:"Good link. Now is the time for Bill Gates and the rest of us to join the Libertarian party. A three-party system could do wonders for freedom and our country." PerryA I'm sure you did not mean it this way but, if more parties are better in the political arena, then might it follow that more players in the PC operating system market would be better too? (You don't have to answer that, but I do wonder why one and not the other. What's the basic principle here?) HR PS: Incidentally, one may hope that Apple does not completely falter with its 3.8% market share, because Microsoft would look all the more conspicuous standing so alone. Along these lines, this may comfort you a little: Apple Rises to Number Four in April Sales Rankings For the first time in recent memory, Apple Computer is seeing relatively strong sales performance against its competitors. According to new data now in from market research firm PC Data, Apple captured the number four position in sales against its counterparts in the personal computer world, even ahead of technology giant IBM. Compaq once again saw itself number one in sales, with Hewlett-Packard and Packard-Bell NEC behind. IBM slipped to number five. And while the news certainly is positive for Apple, it comes at a time in which the industry in general is seeing poor sales and (in a reversal of common wisdom) Apple is seeing healthy sales. Packard-Bell NEC, for example, has been forced to undertaken substantial lay offs, and retailers have reported the month of April to be one of the worst months in a long time with sales falling 12.3%."
