ROCHESTER, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 26, 1998--

Provides Unique Connectivity Alternatives For Health-Care, Retail, Manufacturing, Warehousing and Academic Applications

Aggressively targeting new revenue opportunities, Cabletron Systems (NYSE:CS) today announced that it will introduce a wireless LAN solution based on the
IEEE 802.11 standard. The new product will be targeted at wireless networking applications in key vertical markets, including health-care, government, retail and
academic networking environments.

According to The Yankee Group, a Boston-based market research firm, the wireless LAN market is expected to reach more than $1 billion in revenues by 2000.

Cabletron's wireless LAN solutions offer customers a powerful solution for data collection, point of sale and inventory applications in many different networking
environments, including clinical data capture in hospitals, trading on stock exchange floors, and real-time information access on corporate intranets.

Cabletron's standards-compliant solution will be offered as part of its RoamAbout Wireless LAN family. Existing RoamAbout customers will be offered a free
upgrade of their ACCESS POINT to the 802.11 standards capabilities via Cabletron's web site.

As part of a fully manageable and scaleable networking solution set, including hubs and switches, the RoamAbout can be used as a standalone device, or installed in
a MultiStack 90, DEChub 90 or MultiSwitch 900. Customers have untethered access to basic and sophisticated networks, such as virtual LANs. Customers
utilizing in-building wireless LAN solutions may use Cabletron's existing access points in conjunction with antenna technology and an industry-standard PC card to
establish building-to-building wireless connections.

Availability

Cabletron's 802.11 compliant products will be available in the third quarter through distribution and our Synergy Plus Partners.
