The "speed" of a computer doubles every 18 months...

The average lifespan is 5 years, we'll say and

the difference between a 266Mhz and a 400Mhz is approx. double the $$.

I don't need much time to decide what's the best use of my money.

Analogy...

A business partner bought a Pentium 150(?) about 1.5 years ago(?) approximately. The computer was loaded with all the newest features etc.. THE PRICE? $5,000!

How much is that computer worth now? $800?

If he had bought a Pentium 90 he would have still completed his work in the same approximate time and saved half the money. People only work at a speed they feel comfortable with. Productivity does NOT go up just because the person saves a couple seconds here and there - generally.

Buying the newest toy is always a rip-off, it's been like that for...

What was the profit on that big expense $5,000 computer, NICE! How much did that analysts, sales rep make twisting his arm with the sales speech? How much is the profit on a standard $1,200-$1,800 machine today? Exactly....

Aloha
