Ed, Re: >"What is the difference of 1 nano second to me which I can not even feel the difference."<

I use to feel the same way then I purchased Net.Medic at CompUSA and it
has a neat dashboard type on-line health monitor with many features one of which is local CPU LOAD and cache. Well I can see the CPU LOAD as I move my mouse pointer etc. Some programs use %100 CPU LOAD you actually see the program pause while CPU LOAD it %100 it gave me a realistic view of why I need faster CPU. I currently have a 166MHz and you better believe I am going to upgrade to P-II 400-450 or higher.

My system doesn't run slow continuously but at times it hesitates and for me I want to have the power when I need it. Don't care about the times I don't need it. By that I mean I don't care if I have a big engine while doing the speed limit I want to have the kinetic energy ready to move me. That's the American way.

Re "Unless there is a major technical breakthrough in Software application "

IMO, they should be creating the breakthroughs instead of hoping for
someone else to do so. (I know they did something related to
video-coferencing but that appears to be a dud so far).

There is a need for extreme-power in workstations and servers
but these represent a tiny portion of the 100 million CPUS that
need to be sold.
