That makes sense in a market like the one we now have.

In a way though if I think about it . Look at all the bad news, whew, SEA, falling earnings, Y2k, very high prices, insider selling, and probably many more...

It's like they said, "I know what this is, it's the wall of worry, damn the torpedoes, Full speed ahead", now they got there, . They don't feel any torpedoes exactly, but don't look down. That last rally was pretty aggresive considering the background IMHO. All it proved was that if you throw enough money at them, they will go up. The stock market will always provide a home for unwanted money.

Can they do it again is the question?

Damned if I know. We probably need another flavour of the day, like the internet and merger cones, which tasted so good .. <ggg>

PS: The Gold cone has scary implications.. <ggg>

X, a turn on your "liquid stocks" point: Joe Granville (the discredited market guru of the 80's) used the analogy of a bathtub to describe the bull-to-bear market. As water (money) flows in, the tub get fuller and fuller, floating all the good stocks near the top & the poor stocks beneath them. But when the plug is pulled it's usually not noticed because, of course, the drain is far below the surface of the water. First to get caught are the poor stocks nearest the drain. For time, folks don't really seem to notice that the water level is going down as the blue-chips are still on the surface, floating just fine. Ultimately, at the very last, they too are caught in the vortex and sucked down the hole. No stocks are spared.
