The Diamond DVD Kit Model MC20 integrates DVD and 2D/3D graphics into a single chip to give you high-performance gaming, video playback, and graphics and hardware acceleration. Powered by Chromatic Research's Mpact 2 3DVD processor, the PCI-based accelerator provides full-screen MPEG II video decoding and six-channel Dolby Digital Surround Sound. The 3D engine includes trilinear filtering, specular highlighting, full transparency and alpha blending support. The drive offers a 2X read rate (160-millisecond average random access speed) for DVD -ROM media and a 24X read rate (105ms average random access speed) for CD-ROMs. The unit supports CD-R and CD-RW media.

The drives come with an ATAPI ( DVD -102) or SCSI ( DVD -302) interface and offer 512KB of buffer memory.
