George,

Greetings.

<<Bliss is there. My memory tells me that is so.>>

Are you sure your memory is not a bit rose-tinted? Just a thought. Maybe you were one of the lucky ones.

Skipper

George, you have not changed a bit!! Still damning with faint praise, finding fault with just about everyone, and being very out front about it all. Gee, I missed you!!!

Threads are pretty much made up of the people who post there. I would love to discuss more of Montague's poetry, but without you here, I cannot. It is your participation which changes the subject, or increases the variety of posts, not your criticism from a distance.

I know nothing about child brides from China, but have you done a web search? Almost anything is readily available in cyberspace. Good luck, but be careful. I have read that some of these women rip men off with hard luck stories. Don't send her any big wads of money or anything!!

Anyway, how about a nice poem?

Time Out

The donkey sat down on the roadside
Suddenly, as though tired of carrying
His cross. There was a varnish
Of sweat on his coat, and a fly
On his left ear. The tinker
Beating him finally gave in,
Sat on the grass himself, prying
His coat for his pipe. The donkey
(not beautiful but more fragile
than any swan, with his small
front hooves folded under him)
Gathered enough courage to raise
That fearsome head, lipping a daisy,
As if to say--slowly, contentedly--
Yes, there is a virtue in movement,
But only going so far, so fast,
Sucking the sweet grass of stubbornness.

John Montague
