Mardy: I followed your link but forgot I wasn't on the Ericy board. Got long winded about Ericy over there. ; )

Encouraged Mike to come visit the Ericy board. Good find. I've been watching NT for a while now, too, although I haven't nibbled yet. ..Tim

ERICSSON APPOINTS NEW HEAD OF BUSINESS UNIT PUBLIC NETWORKS

Haijo Pietersma, today president of Ericsson in Holland, has been
appointed new head of business unit Public Networks within business
area Infocom Systems. He will take up his new position on July 1st,
1998 and succeeds Ingemar Nilsson who has been appointed head of the
new Swedish company, Ericsson Sverige AB.

As head of Ericsson in Holland, Haijo Pietersma has done a lot to
develop Ericsson's business there and the company has become one of
the most efficient and well-run in the Ericsson group. Haijo
Pietersma has previously held several management positions within
Ericsson, such as head of marketing and system development as well
as manager of business development for Central and Eastern Europe.

The market for fixed public networks continues to grow and shows no
signs of slowing for the foreseeable future, at the same time as
mobile telephony and separated Internet Protocol (IP) based
communication continue to show strong growth. These different types
of communication continue to complement each other rather than
compete against each other. Ericsson's strength lies in its ability
to offer total solutions based on a variety of systems.

New operators of fixed public networks demand modern system
solutions, at the same time as incumbent operators are investing in
upgrades, such as ISDN and ADSL. There remains firm growth potential
in large parts of the world, driven by the demand for basic,
reliable and cost-effective infrastructure. Internet access and
ATM-based communication integrated into today's public fixed
telecommunication networks also represent an increasing demand.

Earlier this spring, business unit Public Networks launched a new
generation of the successful AXE switch to meet this new demand. It
has been very well received by customers.

The goal for Public Networks is to strengthen its position as
leading supplier within the fixed public telecommunications network
market segment, including IP and datacommunications which are
integrated into the telecom systems.

"Our product portfolio within this area is stronger than ever and
our aim is to increase the rate at which we introduce new and
attractive solutions for our large customer- base as well as to new
operators. We intend to grow faster than the market and to increase
our competitiveness through swift industrial restructuring,
facilitated by new technology, something which we began in 1995,"
says Anders Igel, head of business area Infocom Systems.

Other business units within Ericsson focus on mobile
telecommunications and separate IP-based communication. In order to
sharpen the scope of Public Networks, the responsibility for the
so-called separate voice gateways and Internet Access Servers will
be transferred to business unit Datacom Networks and IP Services
within business area Infocom Systems on July 1st, 1998. Public
Networks' focus is on making Ericsson a world leader within
traditional telecom and on its further development well into the
next century.

Ericsson's 100,000 employees are active in more than 130 countries.
Their combined expertise in fixed and mobile networks, mobile phones
and infocom systems makes Ericsson a world-leading supplier in
telecommunications.
