Frank,
Thanks for the response. I was beginning to wonder if anyone was listening. It appears that we are in agreement on the issues I raised though it seems we may disagree on the time frames of implementation. I assume this is probably due to our past experience in the telco world. Either way, I find this issue of global network interoperability the most fascinating as it appears to be the hardest to solve from a business perspective. It actually reminds me of the early wireless days when various operators deployed technologies that were not necessarily compatible from a back-office operations point-of-view. These issues were quickly overcome by the development of industry standards for mobile switch messaging, settlement, and fraud liability. After reading recent articles on pulver.com it appears that these efforts are well underway for the IP world at least as it relates to settlement and liability. I haven't been able to find any effort on IP Telephony fraud management and I'm wondering if the industry is going to depend on authentication or encryption in order to counter this threat. I suspect this being a immature industry, the issue has not been encountered to date. Do you know of any efforts in this area?

Regards,
Crash
