Tom,
Not trying to dispute your main point (that manu is not a buy yet), but your choice of comparisons makes it seem like you don't understand the SCM space.

RMDY and CLFY both face intense competition. RMDY functionality can be obtained from a multitude of lower cost vendors. There is nothing special about RMDY. CLFY has stronger competitors (VNTV and SEBL/Scopus). I don't know those other 2 companies you mention, but there are a lot of good front office people on SI and they say SEBL and VNTV are the leaders (and both have been excellent investments).

In contrast, the situation with SCM is that you only have 2 vendors currently that have a complete solution - I2 and Manu. These are the leaders. SCM is difficult to develop so you aren't ever going to see a situation like RMDY where there are dozens of competitors.

SAP has a limited SCM product offering supposedly available late 1998 (called Scope, I think). The 2 problems are 1)it is not a complete solution - SAP blew it in SCM and is forced into a corner at this point and has to come out with something and 2) I doubt it will be ready late this year, I think mid-1999 is more realistic. PSFT has something good in Red Pepper but it is also not a complete solution (however they are ahead of SAP in that they do have something). Baan and Oracle have nothing that I know of.

In addition, SCM is the fastest growing segment in enterprise software.

PS it looks like estimates are for 2 losses in a row for manu so there may be plenty of time on this one, I agree.
