Actually, the fifteen are House members, not senators. This is relevant because it is going to be a House committee investigating. Christopher Cox, the California Republican who will lead the investigation did not sign the letter, FWIW. I agree with you that the article on the fifteen is especially worth reading. It demonstrates the hypocritical thread which runs through the charges against Loral by this crew. Reagan granted the first two waivers, and Bush granted 11...Both received campaign contributions from executives from the companies granted the waivers and the same people who are pontificating now were mute.

Not to say I told you so, but last week I was taken to task by a few people on this thread who were annoyed that I'd bothered to bring up last week's NYT article. I'm gone for a week, come back, and lo and behold, there are 351 Loral posts waiting. It seems someone else thinks this stuff may be relevant to our financial future.

Finally, while I appreciate the substantive contributions made by the those with the technical and financial backgrounds that I don't pretend to have, I think all would do well to remember that there are many types of risks involved in running a corporation depending on its business, e.g., credit risk, regulatory risk, and, of course, political risk.

Should be an interesting week.
