"IBM,HP, CPQ scrambling"
Surely you can understand why it is difficult for Dellheads to feel worried. Unless of course we either quit using computers, or AAPL, GTW, Acer or some hot shot new company shows up on the horizon with guns blazing. Right now though, unless you guys know something which we dont, Dell seems to have all the Ammo. Even our friends at Fortune/Time are impressed!! viz:

DELL.... So Bill Gates' favorite computer company blasted the hell out of the world. Again. DELL did 44 cents in the fiscal first quarter as opposed to 27 cents in the previous year's quarter. (That's growth of 63% my friends!!!!) Wall Street was looking for 42 cents, so they beat that too (by 5%!), but maybe not by enough. (Some were looking for 45 cents! Uh, oh!! A penny!) Stock was basically flat all day and closed at $94. It dropped a couple of points in after-hours trading. (Conference call in process at deadline!) Don't fret though, it's just another "sell on the news" situation. Expectations are so high for poor Mikey right now!! (My fault?) Hey Mike, you should blow a quarter just to get the Nicholas Applegates of the world out of your stock! BOOM!!! Bye Nick! Details: DELL said revenues in the Americas surged 50%, to $2.6 billion!! Overall revs at $3.9 billion. Servers up 177%! Gross margins up! This is just awesome!! Can you imagine? Now you see why IBM, HP, and Compaq are scrambling.
