CYMI, once I proposed an index, the IEI, or "Irrational Exuberance Index". According to this index the try and locate an inflection point of SI posters on a given stock. Sum all the positive posts (daily), subtract the negative ones and plot the value, after normalizing with 1/2 the average daily number of post (Typically IEI goes between 3 to -3), when you notice a peak, (and a turning down of that value) sell, when you notice a valley (usually in the negative range, buy, with a caveat, the -3 territory in some cases do indicate a company like ZE, or APM in real deep trouble, it is best to wait for a recovery into plus territory of IEI in such cases).

By the way, for the general market direction I often use our own SI Bull to Bear ratio. When the seven days average gets under 1 it is becoming bullish, major bottom see values in the .7 to .5 (last October), we are creeping down, but last I looked we were still at 1.22 or so. The daily is at quite a bullish .78. One of the problems is that the statistical validity is not as good as last year when we had an average of more than 300 responses and now we are at half that much. I'd better go there and register my bullish stance for the next three months.

Use these carefully, these are one of my turnips better trick and they do fail miserably. I believe that when CYMI got to 14-7/16 the IEI barely got under zero, but when we crossed 17 on the way back up (where I jumped in last) it definitely turned around, but rushed well beyond 3 rapidly.
