I posted Walt Down's remarks because they spoke to trading in a general way. A manner that suggested that one needs rules to be successful.

He pointed out that contests like this are often entered by "bet the farm" type people because it's just paper money. But he actually traded the account based on rules and was consistently profitable.

That is to say, his results may be repeatable quarter after quarter whereas traders without discipline often fly high in April and get shot down in May.
