judy, employees who are granted stock options are NOT allowed to short the company stock. i don't know if the company it self can short or not.
what is selling covered puts? is it shorting a stock and then selling puts in hopes to be able cover the short and make mony w. puts?

On friday, i sold pfe puts. not sure weather to close the position or to ride out to expirations. sold jan99 $100 for 8.36.
never done that before and don't like to do such things.

msft and dell will not have to exercise at those prices.

you might want to look into vvus for a quick trade.

Judy,
I'm not sure about DELL, but I know that Microsoft sells naked puts in order to buy stock. To my knowledge, they have never been put shares.
