Djane, I am playing the cable modem market with ATHM. With ATHM you don't have to worry about which cable modem/standard company to buy. Two other companies that are in the cable internet business is Time Warners Road Runner and a company called MediaOne (UMG). ATHM has got 8 or 9 of the large cable companies locked into a contract until 2002. These companies cable pass about 50 million homes. Only about 5 million currently have the HFC cable that is required for two way fast internet access. At the end of 1997 they had about 50,000 subscribers and now I think they have somewhere between 100,000 and 300,000. ATHM's growth will be tied to how fast the cable companies upgrade there cable and how much bussiness they lose to DSL. When DSL comes out in force, it will happen quickly. ( I think). I still think that ATHM could be the next AOL. ATHM's price has fallen quite a bit in the last few weeks. The stocks price has risen about 70 % this year and now has fallen back down to about 55 %. I was lucky I bought some at 24. Do you have any ideas on how to play the DSL market? I've been looking at AWRE. They seem to have a lot of patents on DSL. I think they have the patent on the splitterless DSL that some folks think will become the most widespread. ( I am not sure) Thanks for your posts on ASND.
