Wingate is free AND you have Dirk's experience, it may come in handy. If you don't like it you can uninstall and try Winproxy.

I can not help on the specifics. Once it is setup it does not seem to me that there is much difference. Have you confirmed that both "lite" programs have the required protocol?

FWIW, I asked the two guys that installed my cable modem on Friday about multiple computers tied into the one line. They said they don't "officially" support it - but then they went on to highly recommend WinProxy. One of them is running it at home.
