Skipper, I do have cats, but we keep them mostly indoors. Their hunting is limited to climbing into their catfood cupboard and creating a ruckus there to remind me to open a nice, juicy can of the good stuff. When they are really desperate, willing to lower themselves to eating kibble, they claw their way into the Science Diet bag.

Once or twice, the guy cat has hunted me (bitten my ankle) to get fed. The girl, who is much more clever and manipulative, has figured out that if she makes a nuisance of herself by sitting in my lap all day, I will finally get up and give her some nice grated very sharp cheddar, chive cottage cheese, or a scrambled egg as a distraction, so that I can have a few moments' peace.

Still, I would not classify hunting for the memory of feeding themselves in the same category as hunting purely for sport.
