Skipper, I have never advocated a society totally without guns. For one thing, it would have to be a worldwide event getting rid of all of them, going door to door, using metal detectors to find hidden ones, etc. The logistics of that are absurd, even though it is a wonderful idea from an idealistic point of view. And I am pretty sure not everyone would agree. Of course, that would mean disarming the military as well. Isn't that an oxymoron or something?

Just a word to say I think your arguments have been brilliant! As regards the gun issue, how about if the unarmed police just gave crooks a real dirty look?
