Now here is a question I haven't answered for myself so I will pose it here. If the market shift in volumes is towards the low end of performance which head is going to be used. I presume that it will be the highest density achievable with supporting yields. The idea would be to have fewer components in the disk drive to support a low price but the components must have the corresponding yield to support that low price. I am frankly not sure where that is on the areal density scale. It usually is not at the highest densities (i.e. 3.4 GB per platter). Those of you with contacts to IR and Kurtzweil may want to consider asking RDRT where they think the "sweet spot" is going to be. If you get an answer I would be very interested to hear it.
