Nice to hear that Belluzzo has moved all his chips over to SGI's side by eliminating the stipulation that he be paid extra if SGI failed to perform. It was the classy thing to do. Since he apparently didn't want the clause in the first place, they must have stuck it in because they (a) didn't think he'd take the job otherwise, and (b) were pretty nervous that SGI was tanking. Two depressing observations.

My brother writes software for defense contractors and has been shopping around for new jobs, and inquiring (at my request) about SGI among various companies. The results are not always cheering. It seems every shop has at least one distinctive-looking old SGI computer that nobody uses anymore. The bright colors, fins, and peculiar shapes sort of make the machine an eccentric advertisement for obsolenscence. I think that the distinctive look of the SGI box does not always leave a favorable impression on people who are looking for reliable components. I hope SGI has an aggressive campaign to buy back all those old boxes, or trade them in for new stuff at discount.

Has anybody heard some revised estimates for the release of the Visual PC? Anybody guess what color it will be ? --JD
