Christine: Anyone who sat down during 60 seconds of silence could have reasoned out that a system replacing god-kings or despots with an amorphous "common good" (defined by whom?) was destined to quickly become criminal and despotic itself. What objective, morally good political system can be built upon selflessness and the concept of "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need"? It has built-in failure to it because the more productive one is, the more one is punished for it -- the less one productive is, the more one is rewarded for it. That is the basic problem of all redistribution of wealth schemes. This is true whether X wants to admit it or not. She may as well claim that the sun appears to rise in the West and set in the East.
