Damien,

I'm as confident as you are with ODIS' long-term prospects... Actually, I'm even more confident with the short-term.
Nothing happened on Friday 05/22/98!! About 400k shares changed hands? And then... what's the deal?! ODIS' float is 9,000,000 shares!
I tell you: this 11% drop was a plot, a plot triggered by those funny bretelled daytraders. The timing was perfect: right before a 3-days holiday, on a Friday, and halfway through the 2nd Q: a twilight attack!
Anyway, when we turn back to the fundamentals, we realize that the ODIS case has become a twofold story: part one's dealing with the overall ODBMS business' outlook. I think that a 40% growth rate will be the cruising speed for ODIS. But such an outstanding performance in an otherwise depressed RDBMS market will not be enough: VSNT and Jasmine must show up some ''signs of life'', we don't want them to fail for the sake of all the industry.
Part two is related to the RDBMS Big Three, ie ORCL, IFMX, and SYBS: we want them to get more troubles... A one-digit growth rate for their core DB-licenses business will be just fine!
Such a picture will further demonstrate the evidence: the progressive dawn of RDBMSs and the accelerating rise of ODBMSs.

Regarding my previous message: when I spoke of bretelled daytraders I meant braced daytraders since bretelles is the French word for braces... I thought it was used in English also... but it is not!

Ready for tomorrow's bounce back?
