There was a time,Bob,..not too long ago when women had the best of both worlds...now they(doctors) are feeling the pinch of organized medicine and the unwillingness of employers to add full-time staff...leading to more women taking part-time positions which are short of benefits....there's many a female physician who practices motherhood at home fulltime despite their years and expenses of training.This is the realities of medicine which has been relegated to a business just like any other business,having to weigh the expenses versus the revenues.
