rudedog,
This story from CMP was about retailers. Of course Dell wasn't in the top four sellers at "retail". When was the last time you saw a Dell computer at Best Buy?

This article only refers to the current health and sales status of "channel players".

How much of this decline was picked up by Dell & Gateway with their direct BTO model. Unfortunately, this article is quite weak in reporting the complete PC market dynamics.

The impact of the direct model should be quantified for this article to have any real meaning.

CPQ apparently leads in the PII high end rollout, Dell is not in the top four overall on PII

That is commensurate with what you'd expect from DELL, given that ~10% of revenue is from high-end workstations, servers.

From the March 12 Upside interview with MDell:

So, when Meathead says DELL has not saturated the market for 400+Mhz desktops, he's correct!

Rudedog, doesn't that report include activity only at retail stores?
