If he gave to the Newts gang.......I doubt we would have even heard of this........!

In other words: Give us money or we will make up criminal charges and start attacking you in the press. Basically, you are saying the republicans are in the extortion business.

That's an interesting perspective, hadn't thought of it that way.

jemuel, when Bernie Schwartz was interviewed on the ABC Sunday news show this week, he made it very clear that he sometimes gives money to Republicans--if there is something he likes about the individual candidate. He cited Alfonse D'Amato specifically, and said he has given to others, as well.
