Why should people hate INTEL ? For years, INTEL keep improving the CPU , adding features to the CPU make it works what it is today, and as a result we can make the dream of IT world come true. INTEL is INTEL, its mission is to design
the most advanced CPU and continue improving it so that it will compete with its competitors in the market place, so, what wrong with it ? If you can not compete,
then it is your own fault. Did NSCP have a choice ? yes, it did. Can NSCP team up
with Sunw ? It can, but it did not want to. So, who is to blamed for NSCP's failure ?
itself !!!!

Emotionally, those companies failed in the market may hate INTEL, but leagally,
INTEL has done noting wrong to compete in the market place by continuous improving its products. For years, Sunw has dominate the engineering workstation market, then should Integraph hate SUNW , or SGI hate SUNW for their own failure ? I do not think so. It is not wrong to be successful, there is no single law said that
people or companies are forbidden to be successful. To me, the NSCP's action of crying to the doj just like some poor folks cry to the court to complain that Mr. GB
is too rich and ask the judger to order GB to throw some welfare money to NSCP.

Emotionally, GB should through some chicken bones for NSCP to chew , but legally,
Mr. GB do not have such responsibility.
So, in the future, all those successful companies should form a welfare organization
to rescue those failed in the competition.

I think the responsibility of the CEO is to impove its products , and set up marketing strategy of the company, and make sure those strategies are successful executed.
If an CEO can't do that, then, he should be stepped down, and let people who can do
it have a trial.

The current DOJ is just to penalize the success and compensate the failures. What the DOJ should do is to encourage the success to be continuous successful and break the failures and ask them to
merge with stronger ones to prepare those losers in the current competition for future success.

By the way, the title of this thread " Microsoft, the EVIL empire" , is just too much and too emotional.

Mr. B -
Do chip designers hate Intel? not just chip designers but almost everyone who has to deal with Intel. And yes lots of people who understand silicon innovation do think Intel is a little short on innovative capability. Intel is a lot nastier in protecting their monopoly than MSFT.
