Ciena's WDM technology is as far as i know selected from Ascend. They plan to integrate this function into there ATM-card's. This is maybe one way to support the next generation of STM-64. AS far as xDSL is concerned, i guess Ascend is not compatible to all Vendors. For the field trail in germany telecom is using ORKIT and ALCATEL with some sort of splitter/filter technology. The security software they are using right now is not there own development. The other important area is VoIP and or IP-Gateways. In that area they have some partnerships with eFusion and HP.
