The bigger issue with print media endorsing rumors is that Smart Money is affiliated with the Wall Street Journal and is supposedly an objective reporting vehicle. If the statements are not at all factual, it seems that DELL has a slander case against Smart Money. They (Smart Money) can probably avoid this by saying that this was just one money manager's opinion. However, one would expect a more above board journalistic approach from Smart Money with greater due diligence and a more balanced presentation; if this is purely rumor mongering.

I guess that in the financial media like all others, sensationalism sells the tabloids.
