I just got a JVC-DHS and unfortunately, it has been a nightmare. I am fairly certain that the unit I bought is defective and probably not the norm. I cannot get it to record DVHS on a DVHS tape. I can get an analog on an analog tape but there are MULTIPLE strange things happening and error messages that I cannot even begin to list in this forum. I ordered from Dish Direct who had a great price of $599...plus I had to order a SW44 switch since I have two dishes. This switch has to be mounted indoors and requires power.....uggh. I'm probably going to have to swap this out. I can't imagine that mine is working as designed. If so, I would definately recommend to everyone not to get one. Once I get mine fixed/replaced/or returned I will let everyone know. Carter
